What you might not know is that the movie got some of its inspiration from the Grass Valley, CA Air Attack base.
To celebrate, the base opened up the airfield on Saturday to tours. We were fortunate enough to take some time and visit the base with our kids.
For so many reasons, I'd like personally say "thank you" to the Cal Fire crew. Besides allowing my kids to run climb into on of their air tankers, they recently helped put out a fire that was way too close to my home.
On top of that, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), Young Eagles program, was offering completely free airplane rides for the kiddo's.
I was talking to one of the firefighters and asked how often these planes are used... Believe it or not, I was told that these aviation firefighters are used every single day!
Now these guys are American patriots!
